History

Birgitta bought this young stallion on Iceland three years ago. Although he was fat and out of shape at the time, Birgitta was surprised by the overall quality of his offspring -Isar showing a very strong genetic stability -a characteristic of only the very best stallions. Isar also had and amazing pedigree. She took the stallion to Sweden and in close collaboration with Vignir Jónason, well-known rider (world champion), trainer and breeder. Ísar´s breeding index (BLUP) is 125 and he is out of the famous honours award winning breeding mare Ísold fra Keldudal, two out of her five first offspring have received 1. prize. She has a long line of famous breeding mares behind her including both Hrund fra Keldudal and Nös fra Stokkhólma. Ísold is after Hrafn fra Holtsmúla and her daughter Hrund's first five offsprings all received first prize. Nös have given birth to eight (!) 1 prize winning offsprings, becoming a breeding legend on Iceland.

 

Ísar's father Keilir fra Miðsitju is out of Krafla fra Sauðárkróki under Ófeigur fra Flugumýri. Behind Keilir we find a long list of excellent stallions; Ófeigur fra Flugumýri, Kolskeggur fra Flugumýri, Gustur fra Sauðárkróki and Sörli fra Sauðárkróki to mention a few, as well as the honory award winning breeding mares; Krafla fra Sauðárkróki, Perla fra Reykjum, Fluga fra Sauðárkróki and Síða fra Sauðárkróki.

 

Isar combines some of the best blood lines on Iceland; Sauðárkrókur and Hornafjörður through Keilir. Furthermore the stallion matador Hrafn fra Holtsmula, that unites both Svaðastaðir and Hornafjörður blood lines and Kirkjubær is added through Ísar’s mother Isold (fra Keldudal).
